A Heterochromatic Companion Departs, Warmth Lingers in Wool

On January 12, 2026, our studio received an inquiry filled with profound sorrow. A client reached out to us, earnest in his request to have a 14-inch wool felt portrait made of his Husky, named 97. 97 was an extraordinary heterochromatic Husky—one eye was a warm brown, like amber bathed in sunlight, and the other a clear blue, like a lake reflecting the sky. His voice trembling with unsuppressed grief, the client shared that 97 had passed away just the day before, on January 11. Devastated, his family had held a solemn pet funeral for 97, and the portrait was their way of keeping 97’s final appearance alive, a quiet tribute to the unspoken sadness in their hearts.

Details Filled with Longing

The client specifically chose a 14-inch size, his tone firm and sincere: “I want a larger size so that every detail is perfect—especially his heterochromatic eyes and the two little tufts of fur by his ears. Those are what made him so special, and they’re the things I’ll miss the most.” He paused, thinking carefully, and added more precious details: “Could you make the outline of the fur on his left side a little rounder? He was always so soft and cuddly, and that’s how I remember him best.” Every request, every gentle reminder, was filled with deep, heartfelt longing for 97. We listened closely, jotting down every detail, and made a silent promise to recreate 97 with meticulous care, honoring the trust and longing he had placed in us.

Crafted with Care to Heal Sorrow

Right after our conversation, we dived into creating the wool felt portrait, sparing no effort and paying extra attention to every step. We mixed wool colors repeatedly, comparing them to photos of 97 again and again, determined to capture the unique, translucent glow of his brown and blue eyes. With gentle fingers, we combed the wool meticulously, outlining the shape of the two little tufts by his ears and never missing a single subtle curve. We carefully smoothed the outline of the fur on his left side, adjusting the curve over and over to match his soft, cuddly nature—just as the client had described. On January 30, we sent photos of the finished portrait to the client, and his reply came quickly, his voice lighter, filled with obvious comfort: “It’s absolutely beautiful, exactly like him. Thank you so much—I can finally ‘see’ 97 again.” Once we received his approval, we packaged the portrait with great care, wrapping it in soft protective cotton, and sent it via the fastest, safest courier. We hoped this warm, heartfelt wool felt portrait would gently ease the pain of losing his beloved pet, letting 97’s warmth stay by his side forever, in a whole new way.
