Two Portraits, Customized with Love
On January 5, 2025, the studio received a special custom order: the client wanted two wool felt portraits of their black German Shepherd, "Black Ball"—an 8-inch portrait capturing its appearance as a puppy, and a 12-inch portrait documenting its appearance as an adult. In addition, the client specifically requested that Black Ball's fur be incorporated into the portraits, imbuing each memento with a unique and personal touch.
Exclusive Markings, Full of Affection
During our communication, we discovered Black Ball's unique characteristics: a noticeable birthmark on its tongue, curly fur as a puppy, and a tuft of white fur on its chest. The client repeatedly emphasized the importance of accurately reproducing these features, saying, "This is what makes it different from other German Shepherds." She revealed that Black Ball was already 8 years old, considered quite old for a dog, and added, "I'm always afraid it will suddenly leave us. Thanks to you, we can create beautiful memories of it."
Detailed Instructions, Showing Deep Affection
We carefully noted all the details, but the client was still concerned and added more specific requests: "I hope Black Ball's eyes can be made brighter, its mouth happier, and that its majestic and handsome appearance is captured." These simple words revealed her deep familiarity with and affection for Black Ball, and also instilled in us a sense of reverence for the project—we weren't just creating portraits, but capturing the most vivid image of Black Ball in its owner's heart.
Craftsmanship and Mutual Dedication
Throughout the creation process, we maintained constant communication with the client, promptly updating her on progress and making adjustments as needed. When the two finished portraits were sent to the client, her joy was palpable even through the screen: "Thank you so much! I'm going to proudly show off Black Ball's handmade portraits to everyone!"
Memories Endure, Love is Timeless
When asked about the reason for the custom order, the client confessed, "Our whole family loves Black Ball so much. It's getting old, so we wanted to create a lasting memento. Thank you for your dedication." We couldn't help but feel that Black Ball was incredibly fortunate to have such a loving and devoted owner, and we were equally honored to have the opportunity to capture this deep affection through our craftsmanship.
